US Import & Export Freight Coordinator (Ocean & Air)

Job Title: US Import & Export Freight Specialist (Ocean & Air) Location: Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico

Reports to: Operations Director

Salary: $25,000 – $30,000 MXN/month (gross, depending on experience)

About the Role

We are looking for a Freight Specialist to manage ocean and air freight operations on the US import/export trade lane, based in our Guadalajara office.

Responsibilities

Handle end-to-end ocean (FCL/LCL) and air freight operations for import and export shipments between Mexico and the USA

Coordinate with carriers, airlines, trucking companies, and overseas agents on bookings, capacity, and transit times

Prepare and verify shipping documents: Bill of Lading, Air Waybill, commercial invoice, packing list

Liaise with customs brokers (Agente Aduanal) for import/export clearance in Mexico

Track shipments and proactively update clients/HQ; resolve exceptions (delays, damages, shortages)

Maintain accurate records in CargoWise

Support billing reconciliation with carriers/airlines

Requirements

2+ years of experience in freight forwarding/logistics operations; US trade lane experience preferred

Hands-on experience with CargoWise (required) — must be able to process bookings, generate documents (B/L, AWB), and manage shipment records in the system

Working knowledge of ocean & air freight processes and Incoterms

Working proficiency in English (Mandarin a plus, not required)

Proficient in Excel

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to quickly identify and resolve shipment issues

Quick learner, comfortable picking up new systems and processes with minimal supervision

Detail-oriented, able to multitask and handle multiple shipments under pressure

Flexible availability — willing to adjust working hours to align with US time zones and accommodate urgent shipment issues outside standard hours
