Job Description

Keedian (formerly Tutenlabs)  is transforming how buildings operate — combining technology implementation, AI-powered optimization, and managed services to help multi-site organizations cut costs, reduce emissions, and move from reactive fixes to predictive performance.

Our vision is clear:  a future where buildings run autonomously, so our clients can focus on what matters most.

Location:  Mexico, with availability to travel. We prioritize candidates based in CDMX, Puebla, Querétaro, or Estado de México.

Work Setup & Travel:  Primarily remote, with occasional travel based on project and customer needs — approximately  4 trips per year of up to one week each .

Visa:  Must currently hold, or be able to obtain prior to employment, a valid  U.S. B1/B2 Visitor Visa  for occasional business travel to the United States.

What this role is about

We're looking for a  hands-on IoT engineer  who can research technologies, connect and test devices, build prototypes, troubleshoot integrations, and turn findings into scalable solutions.

A key part of the role is  connecting IoT devices used in buildings to Keedian's technology  — such as energy meters, thermostats, temperature sensors, HVAC controllers, and gateways.

You might build a small lab environment, test different devices and integrations, and determine which solutions should become part of our standard technology stack.

The goal:  define what technology we should use, how it should connect, and how to make it reliable, cost-efficient, and scalable across hundreds or thousands of locations.

What You'll Do

Research, test, and select IoT technologies , including sensors, controllers, gateways, meters, routers, and connectivity solutions. You'll build prototypes, configure devices, troubleshoot integrations, compare alternatives, and determine which technologies best meet our technical, operational, and cost requirements.

Design and standardize IoT solutions  by defining how devices connect with Keedian Link and our broader ecosystem. You'll create repeatable reference architectures, technical specifications, device configurations, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using technologies such as MQTT, LoRaWAN, BACnet, Modbus, APIs, and edge-to-cloud connectivity.

Work hands-on with edge devices and connectivity , including Linux-based gateways, IP networking, cellular connectivity, VPNs, and remote access. You'll diagnose communication issues and collaborate with Product & Engineering when integrations require changes or improvements to our platform.

Leverage AI as part of your engineering workflow , using conversational and development-focused AI tools to accelerate research, analyze technical information, troubleshoot problems, prototype solutions, generate or review code, and improve engineering productivity.

Translate real-world requirements into technical solutions , adapting existing architectures or researching new technologies when customer needs require something different. You'll provide the technical architecture, hardware selection, and specifications needed to support proposals and deployments.

Continuously improve our technology stack , using lessons learned from testing and deployments to simplify installations, improve reliability, reduce costs, and turn individual solutions into repeatable products that can scale across our customers.

What We're Looking For

Must Have

Bachelor's degree in  Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, Automation , or a related technical field.

3+ years of hands-on experience with IoT, embedded/edge technologies, electronics, automation, or connected devices.

Strong practical understanding of  IoT architectures and device connectivity .

Hands-on experience working with  Linux  environments.

Practical experience with  MQTT .

Experience configuring, integrating, testing, or troubleshooting physical IoT devices.

Ability to understand technical documentation, device specifications, APIs, and communication protocols.

Experience selecting hardware or comparing technical alternatives based on requirements.

Basic networking knowledge, including IP networking, routers, VPNs, cellular connectivity, and remote access.

Strong hands-on experience using AI tools in technical work , including both  conversational AI and AI-assisted software development . You should be comfortable using AI beyond basic prompting — for technical research, troubleshooting, solution design, prototyping, code generation/review, automation, and accelerating engineering workflows.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Professional working proficiency in  English and Spanish .

Availability for occasional travel.

Strong Plus

You don't need to come from a traditional Building Automation background. However, experience in any of the following would be highly valuable:

LoRaWAN

BACnet and Modbus

Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS)

HVAC controls

Energy metering

Refrigeration monitoring and controls

Lighting controls

Niagara Framework

Edge computing

Cloud IoT platforms

APIs and system integrations

BLE, Zigbee, or other wireless IoT technologies

Energy analytics or Fault Detection & Diagnostics (FDD)

Experience integrating  AI/LLM capabilities into technical solutions, applications, automations, or engineering workflows

Experience with technologies or vendors such as  Milesight, Teltonika, Accuenergy, Carel, Siemens, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric , or similar ecosystems is also valuable.

The Mindset We're Looking For

We're looking for someone  curious, proactive, and highly hands-on  — someone who enjoys experimenting, troubleshooting, learning unfamiliar technologies, and taking ownership until a technical problem is solved.

You should also be someone who  actively embraces AI as an engineering tool  — not simply as a chatbot, but as a way to research faster, experiment, build, automate, troubleshoot, and increase the quality and speed of your technical work.

Just as importantly, you should naturally think beyond  “How do I make this work?”  toward  “How do we make this repeatable and scalable?”

Benefits

Primarily remote work

⏰ Flexible schedule

Half a day off on your birthday

Reduced hours on Fridays

Unlimited vacations

Sick leave days

Moving day off

Support for studies, training, and languages

Referral program

Why Join Keedian?

This is an opportunity to do more than implement existing solutions.

You'll help  decide what technologies Keedian uses and how they should work together , testing new devices and turning them into standardized solutions that can eventually operate across hundreds or thousands of buildings.

You'll also work in an environment where  AI is expected to be part of how we solve problems and build technology , giving you the opportunity to combine IoT, edge technologies, automation, and AI in practical, real-world applications.

If you're the kind of engineer who sees five new IoT devices on a desk and immediately wants to connect them, test them, understand them, and figure out which one actually works —  we'd love to meet you.
